Beaches around the world have seen sand castles come and go with the tides. Some beaches have been homes to better castles than others. Drip castles can be built on just about any beach with sand, but there are some conditions which improve their constructability and appearance.
Grainy, coarse sand, derived from coral is frequently found in the Carribbean or on beaches protected by reefs, and is tough to work with. The larger individual grains do not permit the construction of arches or windows that rely on the cohesiveness of smaller grains of sand.
Additionally, construction on beaches with excessive rocks or shells should be approached with some care as to avoid broken nails and bruised fingers incurred while digging the supply basin.
